چکیده
Aim: The aim of this pragmatic observational study was to identify for which purposes Functional electrical stimulation (FES) has been prescribed in University Rehabilitation Institute Republic Slovenia – Soča (URI-Soča) long term treatment at home and whether prescribing practice changed over time the last 10 years. Methods: A cohort retrospective included 373 stroke patients that performed inpatient rehabilitation Department after URI-Soča between January 2010 December 2019, used FES discharge. Results: most often with mild disability severely affected upper extremity stroke. Half on paretic extremity, 46.9% hemiparetic lower only minority (2.9%) alone. limb predominated almost whole period. 22.3% more than 1 year, average 3.5 combination botulinum toxin therapies as a spasticity one third (29.8%). In group were statistically significantly frequent (P<0.001). Conclusions: Almost one-third got use manage spasticity. More half those who years suggests they felt effectiveness combined approach.

Rehabilitation with Functional Electrical Stimulation in Stroke Patients
Upper extremity hemiplegia is the primary impairment underlying stroke-induced disability. Reducing chronic hemiplegic upper extremity impairment is generally difficult, and is the impairment most frequently treated by therapists [1]. Even 3 months after stroke only 20% of the stroke survivors, however, have normal upper extremity function [2]. Whereas motor practice improves motor skill learni...

Rehabilitation as a treatment approach to affect neural remodeling or ''plasticity'' of the injured brain is gaining increasing attention and appreciation. While rehabilitation continues to emphasize re-establishment of functional abilities, the approach of neurorehabilitation attempts to improve recovery by impacting on changes within the central nervous system rather than reliance on compensa...

With getting older in the whole population, the prevalence of stroke and its residual disability is getting higher and higher recently in Taiwan. The functional electrical stimulation cycling system (FESCS) is useful for hemiplegic patients. Because that the muscle of stroke patients is under hybrid activation. The raw electromyography (EMG) represents the residual muscle force of stroke subjec...

In recent years, our understanding of motor learning, neuroplasticity, and functional recovery after the occurrence of brain lesion has grown significantly. New findings in basic neuroscience have stimulated research in motor rehabilitation. Repeated motor practice and motor activity in a real-world environment have been identified in several prospective studies as favorable for motor recovery ...

Stroke is a leading cause of serious long-term disability in the United States. The American Heart Association estimated an overall stroke prevalence of 6.8 million Americans over the age of 20 years, accounting for 2.8% of the population, based on The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 2007 to 2010. The burden of stroke is a global problem that causes well-known long-te...
